South Point Las Vegas to Become Basketball Central in December

LAS VEGAS, NV – For the second straight year, Michael Gaughan’s South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas will host thirteen days of college basketball action. “The Great Western Shootout,” “Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic,” “D3Hoops.com Classic” plus a game featuring two of the top high school programs in the country will turn the popular Las Vegas resort into Basketball Central.

Basketball Central kicks off with “The Great Western Shootout” featuring a men’s and women’s Division II field on December 16th and 17th. On December 18th, two-time defending national champ and current top-5 ranked Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV) and Bishop Manogue (Reno, NV) battle it out in an outstanding high school match-up. The Division I “Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic” features men’s and women’s Division I teams from the ACC, Big East, Big 12, MAC, Mountain West, Pac 10, WCC and other top conferences. The D3Hoops.com Classic will conclude the action with a ten-team Division III field from December 27th through 29th.

South Point Arena GM Steve Stallworth said, “The action on the hardwood in our versatile arena carries over to the rest of the resort. We love the atmosphere that the fans from all over the country bring to Basketball Central.”
