Signs Point to South Strip for Booming Business South Point Hotel & Casino Opens 830 New Guestrooms

LAS VEGAS, NV – In the midst of a tough economy, business is booming at the South Point, enough to warrant 830 new guestrooms. Pending final county testing on Saturday and Monday, the South Point will welcome its first guests to the third and final tower of the property on Monday afternoon. Comfortable rooms, excellent amenities, superb customer service and extra large standard rooms are some of the things that guests can expect to find upon check-in.

“Our rooms are big at 500 square feet and now larger than some suites in town,” Michael Gaughan said. “By adding these new rooms, we are able to accommodate larger conventions.”

J.A. Tiberti Construction began working on the third tower last August. This $100 million expansion is 25 stories tall and includes an additional 830 guest rooms and suites along with an additional 10,000 square feet of conference space. Completion of this tower makes the South Point the largest locals’ hotel in the Valley with 2,163 rooms and 160,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Next on the project list is an expansion for the property’s spa, Costa Del Sur Spa. Included in the project are additional treatment rooms, couples’ suites and a co-ed wet area. Still available for expansion is an area measuring 60,000 square feet, currently dirt floor and located on the first level at the South end of the building. Plans for this area include more gaming, additional restaurants, a sports bar and a state-of-the-art poker room.

One thing is sure, “I am always looking for what the customers want,” Gaughan said, “and I am prepared to give it to them.”
