South Point Hotel & Casino and J.A. Tiberti Construction “Top Off” Final Tower

LAS VEGAS, NV – South Point and J.A. Tiberti Construction have reached an important point in the construction of the third tower of the property. An evergreen tree will be lifted to the top of this 25 story tower to signify the safe and successful completion of the concrete structure. Michael Gaughan and Tito Tiberti will be present along with approximately 800 craftspeople for the ceremony.

“We are so proud to have completed this portion of the project safely and two weeks early,” Michael Gaughan said.

Construction began last August on the third tower of the property. This $95 million expansion is 25 stories tall and includes an additional 800 guest rooms and suites. Approximately 10,000 square feet of additional conference space will also be included in this project. Completion of the third tower will make the South Point the Largest Locals’ Hotel in the Valley with over 2,150 rooms and suites and 160,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Already completed and opened are two new restaurants, Baja Miguel’s and Primarily Prime Rib. Construction began in August and the two restaurants opened in December of 2007 just in time for the NFR. Baja Miguel’s features favorites from south of the border for both lunch and dinner while Primarily Prime Rib has four separate cuts of prime rib and other selections starting at just $11.95.

Still available for expansion are 60,000 square feet of casino space that has not been completed. It is currently a dirt floor and located on the first floor of the South end of the building. Plans for the space include additional restaurants and a state-of-the-art poker room. The rest of the space is still in the planning stages. One thing is sure, “I am always looking for what the customers want,” Gaughan said.
