South Point Arena Rolls with the Punches as the Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls Hit the Track Saturday, Feb. 23

LAS VEGAS, NV – South Point Arena hosts a double-header Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) event featuring traveling teams from the Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls as they go head-to-head against Wasatch Roller Derby of Utah Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. The event will kick off with the Sin City Rollergirls All-Stars competing against Wasatch Roller Derby’s Midnight Terrors.

“It is unique events such as these that allow us to provide guests every type of experience available in Las Vegas,” said Ryan Growney, South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa’s general manager.

The All-Stars are ready to hit the track against the Midnight Terrors once again and are hungry for a win after suffering a loss during their last battle. Following the first match-up, Sin City Roller Derby’s Black Spade Bettieswill take on the Wasatch Roller Derby Bonneville Bone Crushers for the first time ever. “The team is beyond ecstatic to be working with the South Point Arena,” said Sarah Garcia, Sin City Rollergirls league president. “We believe the new venue will showcase our sport in the way we feel it deserves to be displayed.”

The Sin City Rollergirls league consists of four home teams including The Notorious VIP, Hoover Damned, Flying Aces, and Tommy Gun Terrors in addition to two traveling teams, The All-Stars and Black Spade Betties.Roller derby involves two teams of four blockers skating around an elliptical track while a jammer (point scorer) tries to fight her way to the lead. For each opposing skater the jammer passes, the jammer’s team earns a point.
